Shari P. Boston Named Executive of the Year in Supply Chain Management

Boston, Executive Director of Distribution and Logistics Strategy and Integration for Merck & Co., Inc., has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Executive of the Year in Supply Chain Management. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.

With 27 years of professional experience, Ms. Boston specializes in supply chain management and optimization. Through her desire to make the world a better place, she joined the pharmaceutical company Merck & Co., Inc., in 2001. Since then, she has held the positions of senior manager of global business processes and systems; director of Asia Pacific regional planning; and senior director of Europe, the Middle East and Africa global logistics. In November 2009, Ms. Boston acquired her current position, executive director of distribution and logistics strategy and integration. She is responsible for comprehending the commercial, clinical, and manufacturing landscape in order to integrate and develop innovative solutions to create a globally competitive, customer focused supply chain.

Ms. Boston's previous positions have given her the opportunity to live in two different regions, Asia and Europe, where she learned how Merck & Co., Inc. conducted international business. As a certified supply chain professional, she gained global leadership experience through running the Asia Pacific regional planning organization located in Singapore. She also established a distribution and logistics organization for regions in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, thereby delivering increased top line revenue of more than $14 million and cost reductions of $10 million in just over 14 months. Ms. Boston attributes her success to her stakeholder management skills, influence, work ethic, and faith.

In 2002, Ms. Boston received an MBA in International Business from Regis University. She also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Georgia Southern College. She belongs to the APICS, Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, and National Association for Female Executives, and is a member of Carpenter Community Church. Moving forward, Ms. Boston intends to progress to the position of vice president.
